Performance based budgeting

Organisations stop and think about how their strategic objectives, budgets, and results link together as one-off exercises, but in reality this should be part of the everyday work of all the people in the organisation.

Performance based budgeting

Performance based budgeting

This is a way of improving working culture by providing people with the information that they need to do their job:

Strategists We are fulfilling our goals
Managers We are achieving objectives
Accountants We reduced unit costs over time
Team leaders We improved results over time
Service users We receive better support

We are working with John Mercer, who led the US Government Performance and Results Act 1993, and Capital Novus to try performance based budgeting for the first time in the UK.

We support organisations through drafting of strategy documents, budget allocation, internal stakeholder workshops, outcome data collection and analysis, and training on Cascade, a piece of software that makes performance based budgeting easier.
